It is always great to see the collaborations that occur between the stores here at the Mill at Newton Lower Falls. Between us we have everything needed to create the perfect home environment for the design conscious! The Dovetail and Adriance Furnituremaker’s tabletops at Gregorians are set with dinnerware and accessories from Didriks for a comprehensive look. Jars This elegant blue setting sits on a Cherrywood Trestle table handmade by Adriance Furniture Makers in Massachusetts. The table is set with Jars ceramic dinnerware in Ecorce and Indigo. It also features La Rochere glassware and Sabre  flatware. The magnificent rug beneath is an antique Bidgar, made in the 1930’s and is nicknamed “Cast Iron Rug of the East”. Royal Copenhagen The clean simplicity of the Royal Copenhagen White Elements dinnerware  pairs well with Garnier-Thiebaut’s Isaphire Platine table linens. This setting complements the elegant Tiger Maple extending table in Amber as well as the American Sarouk rug underneath. This rug, woven in the 1920s, has a beautifully elaborate floral design combing subtle hues of antique rose, sage and navy. Pillivuyt The charming bistro aesthetic in this setting showcases Pillivuyt’s Brasserie collection, along with Simon Pearce glassware and Chilewich placemats featured on a luminous aged cherrywood table. Below the table is a new Bidgar rug. This stunning piece inspired by rugs from the 19th century uses natural dyes and hand spun wools. iittala This colorful setting displays the whimsical Taika dinnerware collection in white by Finnish brand iittala. It sits atop a Tiger Maple trestle table in Amber and the same American Sarouk mentioned...

The Story Behind the Rug : Qashgai Kilim (Flatweave)

Ever wonder about the rugs showcased at Gregorian? This staff favorite is a one of a kind flatweave rug, hand-woven in Iran. It is 60 years old, but don’t let it’s age fool you. The colors in the vegetable dye wool are still deep and vibrant.  The open field, which is less common in persian rugs, is filled with a beautiful blue indigo abrash. The abrash is described as the change in intensity of the blue color, that is caused by different dyes and time. The antique red used to frame the rug compliments the blue and brightens up the overall look. It’s hard not to be surprised when you learn that this rug was crafted by semi nomadic people that were not professional weavers. It is likely that it was woven during the spare time of a mother and daughter. This transitional piece would go beautifully in a modern rustic home and would add a splash of color to any floor. The classic pattern is not overwhelming and would add soul to a contemporary design. This Kilim is a wonderful example of Persian folk art, which is being reintroduced in modern styling. To view this rug, visit The Mill at Newton Lower Falls at 2284 Washington Street Newton Lower Falls, Ma 02462....

I’m sure you realize how congenial each of your staff members are–from sales to the young men who carry rugs to the car–we can’t say enough about these people. Most sales people just want to sell, your people want their customer to truly enjoy what has been purchased and there is the difference.

The nicest thing about doing business with Furniture by Dovetail is the people. Although I’m especially pleased with the ultimate product, thank you for listening and asking the right questions to help arrive at wonderful designs which were within my budget. I’m enjoying my ‘Dovetail Collection’.

Bill and I wanted to thank you for the absolutely exquisite work that you and your staff did in designing, building, problem-solving and finishing our beautiful corner cabinet. We appreciate all the extra time and effort that went into it and could not ask for anything more. The piece is a work of art. We will treasure it always.
