When Old is New…Heirloom Rugs for Tomorrow

When Old is New…Heirloom Rugs for Tomorrow

Parts of The Mill at Newton Lower Falls are over two hundred years old. You can see those rooms when you visit Gregorian Oriental Rugs. You can also see some of their one of a kind Persian Bidjar carpets. These rugs are being woven in the same manner as they were in Bidjar and the surrounding villages two centuries ago. A small group of weavers and loom owners got together and made a decision to make Persian village rugs the old way. They got their best weavers and artisans to discover how these rugs had been made. The first step was redrawing the old rug designs. Two of these are Helvai and Garrus. Then they procured sheep so that they could access the hardy local wool of northwestern Iran to hand spin for weaving the rugs. They started up a dye works that used only natural dyes, for coloring the wool. The project took  over two years to bring these rugs to market. They can be seen at Gregorian Rugs at The Mill at Newton Lower Falls. Each one is unique, with the  luminous colors only natural dyes can provide. These rugs are beautiful and the will be heirlooms for generations to come. Flatweave Rugs for The Summer Home

Flatweave Rugs for The Summer Home

Flatweave rugs, or kilim rugs, are an ideal complement to your summer home. Their uncomplicated patterns and palettes accommodate a range of styles. Simple two color designs and natural wool tones, creams, browns and greys are an easy backdrop for any room. These boldly colored geometric rugs lend their personalities to areas that call for a stronger statement. Kilims are hand woven rugs made on a cotton warp and weft that is wrapped in wool, so there is no pile. These rugs are more supple than traditional pile rugs, in addition, they are lighter in weight, and reversible. At Gregorian Rugs, our kilims are available in standard room sizes and can be custom sized to fit your specific needs. Where do you think you could use one?
